University of Oulu Alumni Ambassador Programme

All students enrolled in International Master's Programmes and graduating by September 2012 are invited to apply to the Alumni Ambassador Programme. Please fill in the attached application and return by email by February 29, 12 o'clock, to alumni(at)oulu.fi.

You can participate no matter where you plan to work after graduation (i.e. in Finland or abroad.)

Who is an Alumni Ambassador? 

An Alumni Ambassador is a University of Oulu recent graduate, who collaborates with the Alumni Relations and Admissions Office on key initiatives and activities. In particular, Alumni Ambassadors are expected to support the University by volunteering their time to

• support Admissions efforts with prospective students online;
• represent the University of Oulu at study fairs;
• meet with faculty and staff that may be visiting in his/her geographical region/country.
• provide information on educational and student mobility tendencies;
• provide testimonials, quotes and interviews;
• provide feedback on what is meaningful to young alumni (social events, career planning, etc.).

 

The estimated amount of input per person is: 10 hours per year. The cases of travelling and attending fairs are agreed on separately. University of Oulu will contact the ambassadors annually with updated information on the University.

 

Why participate? 

The Alumni Ambassadors Programme provides recent graduates with a channel for staying connected and creates engagement opportunities. Alumni Ambassadors are a great resource for alumni and students living in their area wanting to know more about the university and to become involved. During the training in the spring 2012 you will get to network with several University of Oulu and city representatives.

 

How to become an Alumni Ambassador?

Please fill in the attached application form, including a brief motivation letter, and send it via email to alumni(at)oulu.fi by February 29, 12 o'clock. International Relations and Alumni Relations will select the candidates. Results will be announced to all applicants on March 5, 2012.

 

Alumni Ambassador training

Accepted candidates will be invited to attend three training sessions, which will take place during March-April 2012. Total duration of the training is six hours, during which participants will get familiar with the University history as well as meet with various University and City of Oulu representatives. At the end of training participants will receive certificates as well as Ambassador's material package. Training sessions attendance is compulsory.
