The objective of the Department of Architecture’s curriculum is that the graduates to be skilled and responsible architects. Students receive opportunities to participate in various design competitions and research and development projects during their studies at the Department. The learning atmosphere is open-minded: Students are supported to develop their own creativity, to think critically and to find their place in the field of architecture. Studying at the Department is demanding but also rewarding and fun. The yearly enrollment is approximately 40 new students.

The most central tasks of the architect have traditionally been within building design. Today the professional field of an architect increasingly contains tasks within urban design and planning, infill development, and renovation. The objective is planning of the built environment functionally, technically, artistically and ecologically into a well-balanced entirety, considering the local specific conditions.

Today one of the strengths of the Department of Architecture is internationalization on the levels of teaching and interaction. The professors are internationally recognized architects and researchers. International workshops as well as guest lectures by noted domestic and foreign architects, researchers and artists are an integral part of the education.
