Museum participates the Finnish Barcode of Life (FinBOL) since 2012. Barcodes especially for macrofungal genera Russula spp and Inocybe spp (in cooperation with Jukka Vauras, Turku University Herbarium) and Aphyllophorales (in cooperation with Matti Kulju) have been produced, about 300 taxa so far. The project will continue and will cover other species groups in the future; the emphasis being in northern taxa and data for species distribution research. The barcodes are put into BOLD-database and they can be used in species identification for research and monitoring projects.
