About BRC doctoral programme

In short, the aim of the Doctoral Programme is to intensify the multidisciplinary post graduate education within the field of bioeconomy. The goal is to maintain the high standard of the doctoral thesis works while the time period required for obtaining the degree will be four years. The Bioeconomy DP is an internationally oriented multidisciplinary research environment, where students are familiarized to meet the challenges of modern society, industry and research organizations to get the skills needed in their future professional life.

The focus of the DP is to recognize the cross-disciplinary interfaces to provide prospective breakthroughs and to recognize the thusfar unutilized potential. The key training objectives include 1) the characterization of biomaterials to open up the innovative possibilities, 2) selection and modification of raw materials to be suitable for novel processing, 3) exploration of advanced conversion techniques and key technologies, 4) design and development of sustainable products and processes.

Procedural research skills of students will be trained throughout the biomass value chain, from analysis and characterization to the development of sustainable and efficient technologies, thus giving versatile, practicable means to face the technological challenges and opportunities offered by the rapidly expanding bioeconomy markets.

Open PhD student positions will be communicated via these pages during the autumn 2013.
