Bioeconomy research community Oulu (BRC-OULU) is a researcher-driven network of active research groups within the domain of biomass conversion and valorization. Together we possess a strong knowledge base in biology, chemistry and biomass conversion technologies, allowing research to proceed through the biomass value network: sustainable use of arable land and enhanced breeding, engineering of novel materials, resource-efficient biomass processing technologies and recycling.

Our aim is to activate the emergence of local and national bioeconomies by active participation in European and global research networks and communicating the results to our partners. The research community is engaged in various national and international research programmes supporting this agenda and we are continuously looking for new partnerships within bioeconomy-related topics of transnational significance.
