International training grants 2012
Degree students of the University of Oulu can apply for a personal grant for training completed outside Europe that is a part of their major subject studies. Also practical training in those European countries that are not suitable in Erasmus program is possible. Post-graduate students are not eligible for this grant. The grant can be awarded to a maximum of 7 students.
The international training grant is meant for those students who have independently acquired themselves a training position. The training grant is primarily meant for a training period where the student will not receive a salary from the employer. The grant is not purposed to the training in the student’s home country.
The international training grant is EUR 1 800/student in total.
The student is eligible to apply for the grant if:
The training will last at least 3 months,
The training is a part of the studies,
The contents of the training have been approved of the student’s department/subject,
The student will not receive any other financial support for the training from the University or CIMO (Organisation for international mobility and cooperation) and
The student has not previously completed a training period supported by the University.
A prerequisite for being awarded the grant is that the student commits to hand in a final report regarding the training in accordance with instructions provided by the Academic Affairs, and to submit a copy of the work certificate s/he receives for the training.
The training period must be started at 2012.
Application process:
The training position must be acquired before applying for the grant. The grant is applied for with a free-form application (motivation letter), which must show the grounds why the support is needed and a description of how the training will support the student’s studies, professional development and internationalisation.

Certificate to show that the training will be accredited to the student’s studies (http://www.oulu.fi/careerservices/harjoittelu/kv-harjoittelu/certificate.doc). The student must fill in the form and have it undersigned by the person (from the student’s respective major subject) who will accredit the training to the studies.
Preliminary contract/confirmation of the training position from the employer. If the employer is paying a salary for the trainee it must be mentioned.
The application period will end on 30 January at 15.00, by which time the applications must have arrived at the Academic Affairs , Student Center (Kemiankatu, door F2, 2nd floor, KE 224-1, KE 219). Applications sent by mail must also have arrived at the Academic Affairs before the application period expires. The amount of the grant is limited. If any grants remain, the rest of the grants will be awarded during 2012.
