After a successful application process in 2012 CoE Groups Vainio and Pihlajaniemi will participate in the EU‐FP7 funded projects EURenOmics (10/2012 - 2016) and CAFFEIN (10/2012 - 2016).
EURenOmics (European Consortium for High‐Throughput Research in Rare Kidney Diseases):
EURenOmics (Call EU FP7‐HEALTH‐2012‐INNOVATION‐1) will integrate several established consortia devoted to rare kidney diseases with eminent need and potential for diagnostic and therapeutic progress (i.e. steroid resistant nephrotic syndrome, membranous nephropathy, tubulopathies, complement disorders such a haemolytic uraemic syndrome, and congenital kidney malformations). CAFFEIN (Cancer Associated Fibroblast Function in Tumor Cell Expansion and Invasion):
Marie Curie ITN CAFFEIN network (Call FP-7-PEOPLE-2012-ITN) consists of leading European research groups and companies with complementary knowledge in the area of cancer associated fibroblasts (CAF) and a critical mass of expertise for providing an excellent training in CAF function and translational cancer research. The overall aim of this trans-European network is to identify functional CAF subpopulations and CAF effector mechanisms, and to develop therapeutic antibodies targeting CAFs as a novel approach in cancer therapy.
