The University of Oulu offers study opportunities with a solid academic foundation ranging from 5-6 year degree programmes and master’s programmes to doctoral training. There are also several possibilities such as open university studies, executive training and continuing education for developing and maintaining skills and competencies.
In addition to a variety of student exchange programmes, international master’s degree programmes in English are offered in six fields of study, making the university an international study environment.
Logopedics, i.e. speech and language therapy (SLT), is a multidisciplinary science in the humanities with strong links to behavioural sciences. Logopedics deals with speech and language development and manifestations (and other aspects) of communication disorders and their causes as well as with the prevention and rehabilitation of these disorders.
Almost all of the research projects in Logopedics are multidisciplinary. Most of them are done in co-operation with other disciplines or faculties in the University of Oulu. Some of them are also done in co-operation with other universities. Main research lines are: child language acquisition, neurological and neurocognitive subjects, hearing impairments and speech perception, and gerontological subjects.
