PhD, Adjunct Professor Timo Ojala has been appointed as Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Oulu from September 1, 2011 to August 31, 2016. His area is especially internet and information networks in ubiquitous computing. FiDiPro Fellow, PhD Vassilis Kostakos has been appointed as Professor of Computer Engineering at the University of Oulu from November 1, 2011 until October 31, 2016. His area is computer engineering in ubiquitous computing.

Zhang Ye, student of the Department of Information Processing Science at the University of Oulu, has received the Best Student Paper Award at 4th International Conference on Cognitive Radio and Spectrum Management (ISABEL 2011), which was held in Barcelona, Spain.
