AOSpine Europe Young Researcher Award again to Oulu

Pasi Eskola has been selected as the AOSpine Europe Young Researcher Award 2012 winner. The award is annually open to European based young researchers in the field of clinical spine research. Dr. Eskola has studied genetic risk factors of human lumbar disc degeneration at the Biocenter Oulu, the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and the Department of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, University of Oulu, since 2006.

Eskola receives the award on the 21st June at the 'World Forum for Spine Research 2012: The Intervertebral Disc—from Degeneration to Pain' to be held in Helsinki, Finland. A personal research grant of 15.000 CHF is included in the prize.

AOSpine is an international community of spine surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, academics, researchers, and other spine care professionals dedicated to delivering knowledge, experience, and evidence to improve patient care and outcomes. Also in 2011 the prize was awarded to a young researcher from Oulu.
