Three days of opening events
Opening ceremonies for the 55th Academic Year 2013–2014 in the University of Oulu will take place during the three days between September 9–11.
The University community will get together on Monday morning at Rotuaari pedestrian street to welcome new students to the city of Oulu and to the University. There will be short speeches and music in the program.
A church service and the Main opening event will follow at Linnanmaa. The Main opening event begins at 3:15. It is intended for staff, students and invited guests, and there will be speeches and an award ceremony in the program.
The Science Day for schoolchildren and people of Oulu
The Science Day takes place Tuesday Sept 10th on Linnanmaa and Kontinkangas campuses. School children will explore science in over 50 playful workshops. University students are involved in the organizing of the event. The Science Day continues in the evening when anyone can join the event.
Vulcanalia for students and staff
The Student Union, which is involved in all opening event preparations, sets up Vulcanalia Organisation Fair on Linnanmaa Campus on Sept 11th. The Fair offers vast amount of information on different activities organized. Vulcanalia Evening Party kicks off at Toppilan Möljä at 7 p.m. The evening party is an informal event for all University students and staff. There will be music, and the main act is Redrama.
