Outstanding results through multi-disciplinary research
Researchers at the University of Oulu are active in over 70 different fields of study. In basic research, for example, they seek to deepen our understanding of the functioning of organic and inorganic matter, of the structure of the universe and of humans, culture and technology. Harnessed to the service of applied research and development, this knowledge results in the creation of inventions and innovations that benefit society.
The University of Oulu has placed itself firmly at the vanguard of scientific progress and application in its focus and development areas. Most of this research is cross-disciplinary in nature.
Research Quality
University of Oulu quality assurance system has passed quality audit in 2010. The auditing body was the Finnish Higher Education
Evaluation Council (FINHEEC).
University of Oulu has also executed a comprehensive Research Assessment Exercise in 2007. Detailed results and ratings can be found on RAE website.
