Graduate Schools & Doctoral Programmes

Postgraduate education at the University of Oulu is carried out in several ways and in several units: In different institutes, departments, laboratories, and clinics of the faculties, in research groups, or in doctoral programmes that operate across several units and/or universities.
Since the 1 August 2011, postgraduate education carried out by all units of the University of Oulu is overseen and regulated by a single entity: the University of Oulu Graduate School - UniOGS.
Many Doctoral Programmes (which themselves used to be called Graduate Schools) operate within the university. Most of the Doctoral Programmes are networked, including several universities. These are referred to as "national" Doctoral Programmes; in some networks University of Oulu is a participant, and in some the coordinating partner. The University of Oulu takes part in most national doctoral programmes. There are also local Doctoral Programmes, which, although cooperating closely with other doctoral programmes and graduate schools, are wholly managed and run by the University of Oulu.
Doctoral programmes coordinated by University of Oulu.
In addition, the faculties of the University of Oulu organise their own doctoral training programmes.
