Invention disclosure

If you think that your research results could include an invention please fill the invention disclosure.  Please notice that "Act on the Right in Inventions made at Higher Education Institutions (369/2006)" obligate all employees of University to inform his/her employer without delay from an invention.

Filing of an invention disclosure starts a process where

  • it will be checked that an invention disclosure contains enough information so that evaluation of invention is possible.
  • an register number is given to the invention and the invention disclosure is filed away.
  • the novelty, market potential, patentability and commercialization route will be evaluated.
  • owner(s) of the invention will be checked.

Obs! University of Oulu has started to use an electronic system for filing invention disclosures in April 2013. 

Please follow following instructions

- Fill at first the appendix of invention disclosure. Describe your invention as accurately as possible. Add all necessary figures and keywords.

- Fill the invention disclosure using Greip(R) Innovation Tool.

  • Give your email address (use always the same email address, preferable university´s). You will get confirmation code and personal link which enable you to proceed to page where you can add all necessary information (name of invention, inventors, class of invention etc.)
  • Attach the filled appendix of invention disclosure (preferably in pdf-format)
  • Save draft if you want to continue filling later or if you want that co-inventors will check the information.
  • Submit invention report when it has all necessary information
  • Invention disclosure will be received by Innovation Manager of University of Oulu. He/she will check that it will contain the information needed. He/she will contact you if more data will be needed. When invention disclosure has required information you will get an email that your invention disclosure has been received.
