Bachelor's Feedback Survey
In October 2013, the Finnish universities undertake the first bachelor’s feedback survey called Kandipalaute.
The survey examines the students' satisfaction with their university and studying experience. It provides comparative information on the quality of university education. The results of the survey are used to improve the study situation at the University of Oulu.
Student feedback effects on university funding
The Universities Finland UNIFI, which is a co-operational organisation for Finnish universities, and the National Union of University Students in Finland have been working on getting the survey up and running for some years now. The survey will be implemented by an internationally renowned higher education research and consultancy agency CHE Consult GmbH.
The Ministry for Education and Culture of Finland is planning that 3% of basic funding allocated to universities will be based on student feedback from 2015 onwards. This entails a total sum of approximately 50 million euros to be divided among the universities based on student feedback. In the funding model, the student feedback complements the examination of education quality as part of the funding, and it will complement the funding criteria of students having completed 55 credits.
Survey is emailed to students
The bachelor’s feedback survey is emailed to all students who have taken bachelor’s degree in spring 2013. In the fields of medicine and dentistry the survey is emailed to students who have studied for three years. Each respondent receives a survey by email, containing a personalized link, on 30th of September. The survey is open from 30th September to 18th October. The survey takes about 20 minutes to answer.
Each answer is rewarded
To thank you for your response the University of Oulu will offer you a cup of coffee/tea and a piece of cake. To get the prize, print out the individualised response code in the end of the survey. You can redeem your prize from any Uniresta restaurant in Linnanmaa or Kontinkangas campus (Aularavintola, Datania, Discus, Julinia, Snellmania, Kastari or Pruxis) during 30th September to 21st October, 2013.
The University of Oulu and Uniresta Ltd are also raffling a sauna evening at the Saarelan Rantasauna among those who have answered the survey. Evening for ten will be catered by Uniresta. Value of the prize is approximately € 1000. If you want to participate in the raffle, leave your contact information in the end of the survey. The winner will be notified personally.
