Supervision

Doctoral students are encouraged to have at least one other supervisor, whose responsibility is to provide additional expertise in methodology and theory. This practice will enhance the multidisciplinary nature of the human sciences. Supervisors should take on a limited number of doctoral students.

The duties of the supervisors are to:

  • ensure supervision for the doctoral students to conduct their research
  • give proper support to doctoral students in administrative responsibilities
  • try to acquire resources to support the research
  • ensure that the doctoral students will have competencies necessary to conduct their research and the general education for a future career
  • offer constructive feedback on work submitted.

A Follow-up group of three members will be selected by each doctoral student together with the supervisor. The follow-up group will follow the progress of the doctoral student and give advice for his or her doctoral training. The doctoral programme will support the follow-up group and supervision practices by providing a public list of supervisors of the programme (supervisor pool) and their research interests.
