Partnership is a central base of the actions of the University of Oulu. Our first fundraising campaign has shown a strong support from the community: from individuals, from corporations, from foundations and from municipalities and other regional actors.  We want to increase this support, for strategically important areas that will be important for our future development and that will benefit both our region and to the whole of Finland.

Since 1958, the University of Oulu has created welfare in Northern Finland and has enhanced the international competitiveness in the entire country. Today the Oulu region and Northern Finland are one of the most innovative regions in European Union.  

Our vision for the University of Oulu is to be an attractive and successful science university and a pioneer for innovations. The university plays an important role in the development of innovation clusters, which both create successful start-ups as well as enable us to attract international high tech companies to the region.

To fulfil our vision, we need to create excellence that gives an echo in the whole Finland and internationally.  Excellence will not only lead to good results, but will also help us succeed with future state funding and to increase our competitive funding (both national funding and from EU).
