Research in human and regional geography is concentrated on the theory and empirical applications of modern geography.
The aim is to develop the theory of regions and regional transformation. And also to analyze empirically the transformation of the Finnish regional system as an individual spatial case.
One main field is the analysis of cultural landscapes on the basis of modern social and cultural theory.
