Admissions

The goal in studying is to master the main features of historical development and learn to comprehend and study history and present historical information. Studying is comprised of textbook exams, lectures, online courses, various seminars, written and oral exercises, essays and theses and independent research. Sufficient language skill is one of the most important prerequisites for studying many areas of history. Passive language skill – the ability to understand text written in a foreign language – is of prime importance. History students not only specialise in a research topic they are interested in, they also acquire a strong base for a variety of careers, based on a well-rounded education and a history-oriented mind-set. Studies may also include practical training periods. Studying provides qualification for many social jobs in education and research; archives, libraries and museums; culture and education departments; the information sector and international organisations.
