Janne Kivivuori, Professor of Criminology at the Institute of Criminology and Legal Policy, University of Helsinki, has been nominated as Adjunct Professor at the University of Oulu, History of Science and Ideas. The specific field of his professorship (Docentur) is history of sociology and criminology. Kivivuori is a specialist in social science criminology, and he is also a historian of criminology who combines the perspectives of sociology of knowledge and history of ideas in his work. His monograph Discovery of Hidden Crime (Oxford University Press, 2011) presented an historical analysis of how criminological paradigms develop in interaction with methodological innovation and policy concerns. Since 2010 he has served in the Steering Committee of the International Self-Report Delinquency Study (ISRD).
