• Research: History of Science in Finland, Aristotelianism and Cartesianism in the 17th century Universities, History of Meteorology in the 16th and 17th centuries

• Teaching: History of Science from the Antiquity to the 20th century (an internet-based web-course, entitled Mundus Cognitus), Renaissance and "the Scientific Revolution", Graduate seminar in History of Ideas and Sciences

Research projects:

• Newtonianism in Finland and the Baltic States

• History of Meteorology in the 16 th and 17th centuries (especially "strange weather phenomena" and astrological meteorology)

• Disputes on the origin of souls in the 17th century German universities
