Introduction

Finnish as a second or foreign language (S2) consists of Basic studies (25 credits) and Intermediate studies (35 credits). S2 is meant for those who are interested in teaching Finnish to people who use Finnish as their second language in Finland or as a foreign language abroad. In this minor subject students are shown Finnish from the viewpoint of another language, and they are given resources for working life application of the subject. Courses introduce the student to the Finnish grammar from the S2 point of view, they are given skills to inform people of the Finnish know how in the fields of society and culture, among others. Students learn to understand the aspects of multicultural society and they are educated as S2 teachers.
