Student account

In the beginning of your studies you are granted with a personal student account that you can use to access e.g. university's information services. Student account is valid as long as you are registered as a present student or cancel your studies temporarily in University of Oulu.

Notice, that student account is personal and you can't give the password to anyone else. You are responsible of your account use in the university network and servers. The student account includes a secured home directory that you can use as a file storage.

The form of your student e-mail is account(at)mail.student.oulu.fi. After activating cloud service Office 365 for Education, you have an other email address too: firstname.lastname(at)student.oulu.fi.

What can you do with your user account?

• use student Webmail (in use until the end of October) or Office 365 cloud email (in use from summer 2013 onward)
• use information services for students, e.g. Optima - learning environment, WebOodi - student database, Lukkari -  schedule tool, Noppa - study portal
• use software distribution (free software) maintained by IT Administration Services [finnish]
• log in to self-study-workstations around the campus
• use Oulu University Library databases by remote
• use VPN Portal to access the university network by using web browser
