User Account

Your personal user account enables you to access the services provided by the network. All members of the university community have their own account. The user account is personal, and remains valid as long as you are a staff member or a student of the university. Paju account is a student account and Koivu account for staff and researchers.

What can you do with your staff user account?

• log in computers and services
• use email: Webmail
• use information services for staff
• use software distribution (free software) maintained by IT Administration Services [finnish]
• log in to self-study-workstations around the campus
• use Oulu University Library databases by remote
  

Home Directory

Your Paju / Koivu home directory is your personal network-based file storage. The home directory size is limited to 1 GB; visible as drive K: when logged into Windows workstations.

Univ

If your faculty/department is member of UNIV domain, you can use your Koivu user account to log in domain too.

In Univ domain you have more capacity in use in your home directory and other network drives. Your emails are forwarded from Koivu to Puru which is an Exchange server. Instead of Webmail you can read emails by using Outlook or Outlook Web App.
