Home Directory Access

Your Paju home directory is your personal network-based file storage. The home directory size is limited to 250 MB; is visible when logged into Windows workstations. Student home directories are located at paju.oulu.fi –server. On My Computer you can see drive K:

Home Directory Backup

You can save email and home directory files stored on Paju and Koivu servers. Files can be archived and downloaded as .ZIP file for backup. Email will be converted to HTML for offline viewing by any web browser.

IT services Linux workstations

The workstations in YL124 can provide email to HTML, .ZIP, CD Burning, and USB flash-drive backups services.

Archive Email in HTML

From a Linux workstation
1. From the Main Menu -> System tools -> Email -> CD/HTML

Via SSH/eTerminal with Paju or Koivu
2. From the terminal window enter command: make-hypermail

Skripti tekee sähköposteistasi HTML-kansioita, joita voi lukea
millä tahansa selaimella.
Lisäksi skripti muodostaa tiedostoistasi ja sähköposteistasi
CD-imagen jonka voit polttaa CD:lle.
Voit myös kopioida sähköpostit ja tiedostot USB-muistitikulle

Voit keskeyttää ohjelman milloin vain painamalla Ctrl ja C -näppäimiä yhtaikaa!

Voit esikatsella valmista hakemistoa avaamalla selaimessa sivun:

Valitse toiminto:
1 Polta CD
2 Kopioi sähköpostit ja tiedostot muistitikulle
3 Poista väliaikaiset tiedostot työasemalta
0 Lopetus

4 Options:

1. Burn CD
Insert CDR or CDRW into drive. Then press 1, and your CD will be burned. Ignore the screen output from the CD burning program. When the CD is ready it will automatically eject. You can verify the CD afterwards by choosing System Tools > Management then select /media/cdrecorder click mount. Open this address in a web-browser: file:///media/cdrecorder/youruserID/index.html

2. Copy Home Directory files and Email to USB flash-drive
Press 2 and insert USB flash-drive, press enter and wait for the drive to mount on the desktop. Press enter again, and wait for email and home directory files to be copied to your USB flash-drive. You can check the files by opening /media/memstick in a web browser.

3. Remove temporary files from the workstations
By pressing 3, all temporary files created by email HTML and CD processes will be removed from the workstation. Your email and home directory files will remain.

0. Lopetus - Quit

You can abort this program at anytime by pressing ctrl and C keys.

Saving Paju/Koivu email

Save the .ZIP file.
You can find your email archive .ZIP in this directory /var/tmp/TUNNUKSESI.zip
