
TUPAS service enables forgotten paju -or koivu -user passwords to be changed by identifying yourself with online banking account information. The service requires you to have a Finnish social security number and online banking with either Aktia/Sp/PoP, Osuuspankki, Nordea, Handelsbanken, Sampo Pankki or Tapiola. The service uses an encrypted SSL connection with only your name and encrypted social security number (ie. hash, checksum) being sent. In other words no important identifying personal or banking information is transmitted.
The service is free to the user and banks charge the University a fee.

step by step TUPAS password change
1. Go to this adress: https://www.oulu.fi/perl/tupas/passwd
Select your bank from the listed bank symbols.

2. Account Login
Enter your login information

3. Accept the disclosure agreement

The user is shown what information will be released to the bank, this information must be disclosed by the user for the password to change.
4. Entering your userID and new password
The system compares the provided information with existing bank information for verification.

5. Password reset
If the information matches, your password will be reset. Koivu passwords take up to 15 min to be changed. Paju is immediately available.
