Your unix home directory can be mounted as a network drive on your own PC using SAMBA. University network access is required to mount the network drives using SAMBA.

Paju home directories

\\samba.student.oulu.fi\omatunnus

Koivu home directory
\\honka.oulu.fi\omatunnus

update oulu.fi webpages (requires koivu account and password)
\\honka\oywww

From the desktop, Right click my computer, select map network drive

For the samba share to work, the ip address must be found from the name server. The needed protocols are TCP / IP (and only if it wont work, NetBEUI) Use DNS for windows name resolution, as well as WINS server 130.231.240.90

Sometimes samba.student.oulu.fi machine can't be found, try the following alternative names: samba.student, nfstu, nfstu.oulu.fi or 130.231.241.44

Honka doesn’t go by any other name, but you can try connecting by ip address 130.231.241.39

If the machine can be found but the OS keeps asking for a username and password. Change the password in unix or with this webform and try again in an hour. New userID’s will not work under samba until the password has been changed at least once.
