ITEE received just under 4 million funding for EU projects

The research units of the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ITEE) have been successful in the fierce competition of the EU's Horizon 2020 project funding this year. Nearly 4 million euros of funds will be available to the University of Oulu for the projects that have been secured so far. In addition, many strong applications are being evaluated and several are still under preparation.

Especially good news is, that the faculty has been successful in coordination projects:

"As a coordinator, we are responsible for the quality of the offer. We also get stronger visibility and we can best influence project orientation and results,” says Petri Mononen, research funding specialist at the ITEE.

According to Mononen, recent results show that the faculty's ability to gain funding is of the high international standard:

"We have excellent scientists who, when preparing their offer, take into account even small details. It is important because even though good ideas are always valued, nowadays only perfect or nearly perfect are funded."
