100th doctoral defence in Communications Engineering at the University of Oulu

The great need for experts in industry and the rapid development of technology have increased the number of doctoral research conducted in wireless communications. The one hundredth doctoral defence in communications engineering at the University of Oulu will take place on January 9, 2018.

The presenter of the 100th doctoral dissertation of communications engineering at the University of Oulu is the Master of Engineering Shashika Manosha Kapuruhamy Badalge from Sri Lanka.

He has conducted his doctoral research at the Center for Wireless Communications research unit, which is responsible for the implementation of Doctoral Degree Program in the Wireless Communications at the University of Oulu. The title of the dissertation is "Convex optimization based resource allocation in multi-antenna systems ".

 

The first doctoral dissertation in communications engineering at the University of Oulu was presented in 1991 by Hsiao-Hwa Chen, who currently works as a professor at the National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan.

 

In recent years, doctoral studies on wireless communications have grown due to a great need for experts in the industry and the rapid development of technology.

The establishment of the CWC in 1995 increased the quantity and quality as well as implementation and systematization of doctoral education in telecommunications at the University of Oulu.

Most of the doctors of communications engineering from the University of Oulu are employed in companies around the world.

 

Currently, CWC has 140 staff members, of which about half have moved to Finland from abroad from more than 25 countries.

 

The doctoral defence of Shashika Manosha Kapuruhamy Badalge will be held on Tuesday January 9, 2018 at 12 o'clock at the University of Oulu, Linnanmaa campus, Kuusamonsali (YB210)
