Monday, November 12th at 9.30-11.30 in HU206
Introducing special guests and discussants Michalinos Zembylas (Open University of Cyprus) and Geert Kelchtermans (Catholic University of Leuven). Prof. Zembylas has dealt with emotions in teacher's work, also as cultural phenomena and in macro level contexts. Since the beginning of November Prof. Kelchtermans has been appointed as the visiting professor in our Faculty. His research interests lie in themes such as teachers' self-understanding, vulnerability and the micropolitical context of teacher's work.
The roundtable is organized by two post doc-research projects financed by the Faculty. The basis for the discussion is:
Teacher education as life long: Each student enters teacher education with a decade of personal experiences of school. Teacher education is a life-long process that continues also after pre-service teacher education.
Teacher’s work as a relationship: it is a constant dialogue within specific micro- and macro -level political/historical/social/cultural etc. contexts.
Teacher’s identities as multiple: they are constructed and reconstructed in this dialogical relationship with various individuals, intersections and historical/societal/political micro and macro level contexts.
Emotions are at the core of teacher's work: Emotions are seen as socially constructed and personal, produced on micro and macro -levels.
The purpose of this roundtable is to discuss the above from the viewpoint of research-based teacher education.
We invite you all to participate in the roundtable and also to submit your questions for it.
Please sign up by November 8th to Hanna-Maija.Huhtala@oulu.fi
