Top Seminar “Arctic Science with Attitude”

The seminar gathers the brightest brains exploring the Arctic and welcomes you to hear the latest developments in the Arctic research theme.  The event is open for all interested in Arctic issues.

The event will take place on October 16, at 12 p.m. in the Tellus Innovation Arena, at the Stage, according the following program (minor changes are possible):

12.00 - 12.15   Opening words. Vice Rector Taina Pihlajaniemi

12.15 - 12.30   Arctic Research and the University of the Arctic. Professor Arja Rautio

12.30 - 12.45   Human-reindeer histories in the Arctic. Academy Research Fellow, ERC grantee Anna-Kaisa Salmi

12.45 - 13.00   Overview of the Profilation 4 Project Arctic Interactions (ArcI). Kvantum Institute Vice Director, Docent Jukka Forsman

13.00 - 13.30   Coffee break

13.30 - 14.00   “Meet the scientist”. An interview with Professor Jeffrey Welker

14.00 - 14.30   Panel discussion with Jeffrey Welker, Anna-Kaisa Salmi and Arja Rautio

14.30 - 15.30   Introduction to the ideation and working in small groups by Vice Rector Taina Pihlajaniemi (tbc)

                        Afternoon snack is being served during the working hour

15.30 - 16.00   Wrap-up of the event and summary of the ideas for next steps towards new projects


The seminar is organized in collaboration by the Kvantum Institute, Tellus Innovation Arena and Research Services from the University of Oulu and is open for all.
