Collections

The Library provides and maintains up-to-date and practically organised collections of resources from the fields taught and studied at the University. The Library ensures that teachers, researchers and students of all fields represented at the University have access to diversified, high-quality, sufficient and up-to-date information resources for their work. To ensure easy access to the material, the Library maintains
a comprehensive, high quality and up-to-date online library catalogue.

The Library has both printed and electronic collections. These contain research literature, textbooks, reference books, periodicals, theses, electronic publications and databases. The collections are supplemented by constantly acquiring new domestic and international information resources from the fields taught and studied at the University of Oulu. This is done in collaboration with the staff of the different faculties.

Oulu University Library is one of the six legal deposit libraries in Finland, as well as an EU depository library. Material received as legal deposit copies is stored in the Pegasus Library. The Library also has several special collections.

Information on the different collections of the Library can be found in the online library catalogue OULA. Electronic materials can be accessed via the Nelli (National Electronic Library Interface) portal.

Everyone in need of information is allowed to utilise the printed and electronic materials of the Library on the Library premises. Individual titles from most of the collections are also available for home loan.  However, there can be restrictions pertaining to the borrowing and remote use of electronic materials.

For more information on the collections, please contact the Library’s Collections Services, e-mail: kirjasto.kokoelmat@oulu.fi.
