Oulun yliopisto tutkii database in a nutshell
The Oulun yliopisto tutkii database contains information on the publications, expert tasks, teaching merits, visits and artistic activities of the staff of the University of Oulu. It contains information on publications since 1998 and other merits since 2009.
Oulu University Library imports once a month publication data from the Web of Science database to the Oulun yliopisto tutkii database. Since the data of all publications is not imported from WoS, the authors are still responsible for the submission of the required information on their publications to the database. They are also responsible for the submission of the other information included in the database ( expert tasks etc.).
Only members of the University of Oulu staff who have user IDs for the personal information system of the University can submit information. Any Internet users can browse the database.
The guidelines for data collection related to universities’ research activities issued by the Ministry of Education have been taken into consideration when developing the database.
The purpose of the Oulun yliopisto tutkii database is to compile information on the expert tasks, teaching merits and publications of the University of Oulu staff each year and produce the related statistics necessary for evaluating and developing the activities of the departments, as well as to provide information for external and internal reports. The material gained from the database is used as background material in internal performance negotiations of the University, as well as teachers’ and researchers’ assessment discussions. The goal is also to improve promoting scientific activities and serve the needs of both researchers and the scientific community.
The following information is submitted to the database:
Publications refer to the publication activities of the University staff: articles, monographs, theses, patents, ICT software and audiovisual material. The publications will be classified according to the FOS discipline classifications. The submitted publication information will be verified at the Library.
Expert tasks include academic presentations, tasks related to scientific conferences, tasks related to scientific publishing, scientific management and expert tasks, statements given and activities that have an impact on society.
Teaching merits include education in university pedagogy, demonstration lessons, thesis supervisions and prizes or rewards for teaching merits.
International visits includes the staff’s teaching or research visits abroad, as well as foreign academics’ visits to the University of Oulu. The visits by foreign academics are submitted by departmental users.
Artistic activities include public artistic and design activities, related published independent artworks, the public partial realisations of a piece of art, public artistic performances or exhibitions and models or plans adopted into production/use.
Conference data includes information of international conferences organised by the departments. This data is submitted by the departmental users.
Expert information is included in the database. The experts are teachers, researchers or other personnel included in the University staff.
The database is accessed with a web browser at the URL https://solecris.oulu.fi/crisyp/. Logging in and submitting information to the database requires that the user is a member of the staff of the University of Oulu and that s/he has a valid user ID to the personal information system. The user ID enables the system to identify the staff members, and their basic information, such as employment relationships, is automatically downloaded from the University personal information system.
