DOCTORAL PROGRAM
The Doctoral Program of Medical Research Center Oulu (MRC Oulu-DP) is a doctoral program collecting different fields of medical sciences i.e. clinical medicine, biomedicine, health sciences and medical technology under the umbrella of multidisciplinary training program. The programme is a fundamental part of the research focus area “Biosciences and Health“ within the University of Oulu. It will strengthen the systematic and already strong research training in this field.
The doctoral programme will operate under the newly established strategic research organization Medical Research Center Oulu (MRC Oulu) and will be supported by the organization and infrastructure of the MRC Oulu. The programme involves 63 research groups and more than 200 full- and part-time doctoral students. The estimated number of doctoral degrees to be completed within the programme during the period 1.1.2014 – 31.12.2015 is at least 75.
The MRC Oulu-DP will organize systematic training program for students aiming to gain strong research skills in the area of medical sciences. The ultimate aim of MRC OUlu-DP is to promote high level research and multidisciplinary doctoral training. For practical reasons the research groups of MRC Oulu and its doctoral students are divided into following subsections: molecular medicine, clinical medicine, health sciences and medical technology.
The MRC Oulu-DP will collaborate locally with other DPs, such as Biocenter Oulu-DP, and nationally we will benefit from multiple nationwide graduate schools. Some of the courses will be organized in collaboration with other universities. Our strategic aim in the MRC Oulu-DP is to enable the highest level of research and professionalism in doctoral training.
