1) Societal phenomena in pre and early history
Contributions should strive to analyze societal phenomena reflected by archaeological evidence during all prehistoric periods and in historical time. Thus, presentations may focus on a wide range of phenomena, such as the development of settlement from hut villages to cities, gender theories and cultural behaviour.
2) Languages, etnos and archaeological cultures
The scope of this theme is fairly wide covering interaction between languages and archeological cultures. Of particular interest will be presentations on Nordic themes, such as the Sami people and their culture, but we also welcome contributions on global problems and theories relating to the emergence and early development of languages and archeological cultures.
3) Late Neolithic period
The Late Neolithic is a highly significant period for Northern Ostrobothnia and has consequently attracted the attention of archaeologists working at the University of Oulu. We eagerly wait for researchers to present their findings on Late Neolithic cultures in other areas.
