4th Oulu BioImaging (OBI) Day, April 16, 2015

Information

Oulu BioImaging (OBI) Day gathers biologically, medically and technically oriented imaging laboratories, whose expertise cover molecular and cell biology, medical and pre-clinical imaging, optoelectronics, machine vision, material sciences and image analysis.

The goal of OBI Day is to bring together scientists from different disciplines to apply and promote development of imaging technologies and image analysis within University of Oulu and Oulu University Hospital.

OBI Science Image Contest

This contest is open to the University of Oulu and Oulu University Hospital community.

The subject matter is unrestricted and images can depict an object or phenomenon from any discipline:

Microscopy, photomicrography, medical imaging
Photography (somehow related to science; astronomy, nature, etc.)
Science-as-art, artistic impressions
Renderings, reconstructions, models, mixed techniques etc.


Judging:

Submitted entries are judged by an independent panel of experts   on the basis of originality, informational content, technical proficiency and aesthetic impact. The panel selects 10-20 images from entries to the finals. These pictures will be printed out and a finalist gallery will be put on display during the OBI Day.  During the exhibition OBI Day participants will vote for the winner of the OBI Science Image Contest 2015 and the winner will be awarded at the end of the day.
 

Awards:

Finalists will get their copies of printed images. Winning image will be printed out as a large size poster and placed visible to the hall of fame at BCO premises.  There will be a prize for the winner.

The winning image will be presented also outside the university, e.g. Tietomaa has offered a place to exhibit the winning picture and short description of the project.

A published image on the OBI web site and a certificate.
 

Entries:

By participating you permit to reprint your image. Your image reprint will include a credit/copyright line acknowledging your work. Uploaded images will be visible in Notio gallery for all inside University of Oulu network.

If your entry to the contest you allow University of Oulu to use your name and the image in connection with the competition. You also certify that you hold the rights to grant such permission. Winning images will only be used in non-commercial connection with the OBI and accompanying publicity and will include appropriate photo credits.
