Oulanka Research Station

Oulanka Research Station is part of the Thule Institute and is situated in Kuusamo as a regional unit of the University of Oulu.
Having been established in 1966 to promote research and teaching in biological and geosciences, the station also functions as a multidisciplinary unit with a responsibility to coordinate the university's activities in the northeastern Finland.
Its modern research and educational facilities provide an inspiring environment not only for researchers and teachers, but also for organisers of courses, seminars and conferences.

Interact call is now open. The main objective of the project is to increase and fund international research networking.
Oulanka research station co-ordinates "Oulanka LifeWatch" ERDF-project, which is funded by Council of Oulu Region. Project has started in november 2011.
Sation participates ERDF-project " Environment and Nature Photography Academy of Kuusamo", co-ordinated by Kuusamo town, funded by Council of Oulu Region.
Wastewater treatment plant´s capacity has been increased to meet the requirements of the future by enhancing biological purify method.
