Welcome to our pages !

The Mass and Heat Transfer Process Laboratory is one of the founding laboratories of the Department of Process and Environmental Engineering, which has been awarded the status of National Centre of Excellence in University Education for years 2004-2006, 2007-2009 and 2010-2012.

The Laboratory offers basic and advanced courses for students of process and environmental engineering. In addition, the laboratory also organizes courses and provides book exams for post-graduate students. A more detailed desciption of our teaching activities can be found under Education.

  Centre of Excellence

Research in the Mass and Heat Transfer Process Laboratory is conducted under four subjects:
1) Physical-, chemical- and biochemical phenomena in multiphase and multicomponent systems;
2) Process development and design;
3) Sustainable production processes, and
4) Treatment and utilization of industrial by-products and wastes.

Mass and heat transfer, fluid dynamics (CFD), surface science studies, process and environmental catalysis, separation science (membranes and adsorption materials) and waste management (chemical- and food industry applications and recycling of electronic waste) have been the main focus areas. The methods used were experimental (laboratory, bench and pilot scale studies), theoretical (Waste Management Theory) and computational (thermodynamics, CFD, kinetic modelling, molecular modelling). More about our research and publication activity can be found under Research and Publications.
