The aims of the project are:

1. Development of cartilage and bone tissue engineering in vitro.
2. Development of cartilage and bone tissue engineering and tissue transplantation in vivo.
3. Development of guided tissue regeneration.
4. Use of bioabsorbable bone/cartilage fixation devices.
5. Successful clinical application.

The project is multidisciplinary in the sense that it involves scientists in biology and materials science, and clinicians. It involves both producers and end-users. It involves academia (universities) and industry. Successful results will lead ultimately to industrial production and socio-economic benefits.
