Education system in Finland is based on trust and responsibility

Education in Finland is internationally known for its high quality which is recognised in international assessments like PISA. International Master’s Degree Programmes in Education attract future experts from all around the world. Upon graduating from the two year programmes, majority of these students move on to take up international duties around the world with the advantage of the top-quality education, vast professional networks and unique experiences from the northern university city of Oulu. The two international Master’s programmes, EdGlo and LET, have so far had over 200 students from over 55 different countries.

Language requirements for Master's programmes in Education

‐ All teaching will be in English and therefore sufficient English language proficiency is required of all students.
‐ The level of English language will be assessed during the interview in the second stage of the student selection.

The Faculty of Education offers two international Master's programmes taught in English:

Education and Globalisation (EdGlo) focuses its learning and research on global education policy, education systems and curricula, quality, ethics and leadership.

Learning, Education and Technology (LET) educates experts in learning; aim is to develop knowledge and competencies needed in modern education, namely skills for designing, conducting, assessing and analyzing versatile learning situations whether face-to-face or technologically enhanced. LET programme is based on leading-edge research in the learning sciences and technology-enhanced learning.

The Faculty of Education provides high-quality education and research in a multidisciplinary and international academic environment. In addition to Bachelor's and Master's degrees, the Faculty offers a variety of postgraduate and continuing education opportunities. There are numerous research groups and projects which function in different cooperation and development projects in both the public and the private sector.

The University of Oulu has been awarded the ECTS Label. The label is given to institutions which have shown excellence in applying the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). The University of Oulu also has the Diploma Supplement (DS) Label. The ECTS and DS Labels are awarded to higher education institutions which are commited and able to demonstrate that their teaching and learning are transparent and facilitate the recognition of studies and qualifications.
