Contact Asadullah.

My name is Muhammad Asadullah Javed. I’m from Pakistan and I came to the land of Nokia, Angrybirds and Linux in September 2011 to commence my studies in “International Master’s Degree Programme in Magnetic Resonance in Materials” at the department of Physics. Being a student at the University of Oulu, I feel that it is my responsibility to serve this prestige institute becoming an Alumni Ambassador. Therefore, I am participating in Alumni Ambassador programme in order to tell my friends and people across the globe to motivate them to study and explore themselves in University of Oulu. I would love to see more international students studying here in the next few years.

Applying to University of Oulu

Before coming to Finland, I received my Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Government College University Lahore, Pakistan. I was always interested to pursue higher level studies in Materials Science and for the same reason, I started searching international master’s degree programmes.  Meanwhile, during my preparations for IELTS, one of my friends told me about zero tuition fees in Finland that really pushed me to study in one of the Universities of Finland. I collected information from University Admission Finland webpage and looked into every listed University to find some interesting programme. Eventually, I searched and applied in Master’s Degree Programme in Magnetic Resonance in Materials and after an interview with the programme coordinator, got admission in University of Oulu.

Meeting my kummi student

On my arrival in Finland, my student tutor (kummi student) picked me up from Oulu railway station and dropped me in my apartment. I shall always be thankful for her kind help and support during my initial days in Oulu. The kind of guidance provided by the university administration was exceptional for a new student from a totally different part of the world and I really did not feel boredom in the start.

Future research plans

During the last two years, I have studied NMR behaviours in materials and learnt the principles and techniques to perform MRI of materials. My teachers taught me all courses in an excellent way that really motivates me to continue my further studies in the same field after graduation. I feel very lucky to study at the University of Oulu and gaining an international exposure and enhancing my personality, abilities and strengths. I have completed all the required courses and at the moment trying to finish my master’s thesis. In the future, I am planning to start my PhD studies and research work here in Finland.
