My name is Megumi Iwata. I am from Japan and studying in the international Master’s degree programme in Learning, Education and Technology.
Before my Master’s studies, I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. After several years of working, I returned to academic studies. I am now studying education and technology, a field completely new to me – and I am thoroughly enjoying studying here. Studying in this programme is amazing with great classmates from 12 countries with so many different backgrounds and expertise.
The course structures and contents are very modern. We learn collaboratively, not only through face-to-face discussions but also using online platforms for communication and collaborative work. The courses are designed for the learner to acquire the course contents both in the theoretical and empirical way.
We have a lot of opportunities to use new technologies. Personally, I was not familiar with those technologies before I started studying here, but my learning experience how to use them has changed me. This is totally unexpected and I cannot believe finding myself interested in and doing research on this area!
I am sure that you would be satisfied with the comfortable and accessible study environments in the University of Oulu. You will find a lot of different spaces at the Linnanmaa campus available for students to use for your studying yet also relaxing alone or with your student colleagues. Also, there are plenty of possibilities, limited only by your imagination and motivation, at the university and in the City of Oulu. Whether it is activities or events, you will find something you are interested in.
I am happy to answer your questions and tell you about studies and student life in Oulu!
