Polar Bear Pitching gathers startups and media to Oulu

Startup event Polar Bear Pitching is organized for the fourth time on February 14-15th 2017 in Oulu, Finland. The two-day arctic adventure gathers hundreds of participants and great interest from international media to Oulu and is at the same time live-streamed to a global audience.

Polar Bear Pitching differs from all the other pitching competitions in two ways: there’s no time limit, and the pitches must be given while standing waist deep in ice cold water in the frozen Baltic Sea. The idea of the Polar Bear Pitching event was born in Business Kitchen, Universities’ Entrepreneurship community and it is a joint effort of the entrepreneurship team of the University of Oulu and the partners.

On Feb 14th the stage will open for “dark bears”. The dark bear competition is open to any qualified startup on-site who is willing to accept the challenge to pitch in an ice hole and impress the jury. The top three dark bears will join the preselected 15 startups at the Polar Bear Pitching Finals on Feb 15th to chase the €10K cash prize. There has been applications coming from 16 different countries of which the first 15 finalists have been chosen: http://www.polarbearpitching.com/startups/.

During the week Oulu will be filled with fresh ideas as Oulu Startup Week and Oulu Investor Day take place at the same time. Moreover Polar Bear Pitching will offer exciting meetups, keynotes, and workshops. The complete program can be seen here: www.polarbearpitching.com
