The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), and the University of Oulu have made a bilateral cooperation agreement. The agreement was signed during the visit of CASS president Wang Weiguang to the University of Oulu on 6-7 April. During their two-day visit, the CASS management got to know the University of Oulu, in particular its research-based innovation activities and ecosystems, and its research in human sciences and technology.
CASS operates directly under the Chinese central government. It is a very influential research center and acts as an important think tank for the decision-making bodies in China. The cooperation agreement between the University of Oulu and CASS opens many opportunities to the University of Oulu for research and education cooperation with the Academy and its 35 institutes. CASS has special interest on the operations models and know-how in the University of Oulu which promote innovations and entrepreneurship.
During the visit and in the cooperation agreement it was agreed that there will be a bigger meeting later this year in Oulu on themes of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Previously last week during the Chinese president’s visit to Finland, CASS signed a cooperation document with UNIFI, the cooperation body of Finnish Universities. The goal of this document is to increase the number of cooperation projects between universities and CASS. Until now, CASS has been in cooperation with the University of Oulu and the University of Turku.
