Arto Maaninen is the new vice rector for cooperation

The Board of University of Oulu has chosen PhD Arto Maaninen as the new vice rector, cooperation.

Maaninen comes from VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland where he has headed the research of knowledge intensive products and services. He has worked at VTT in various posts since 2002.

Maaninen got his PhD degree in the field of inorganic chemistry from the University of Oulu in 1999. He has experience of working at the university and supervising and reviewing academic theses and dissertations. He has a long list of patents and scientific publications. Maaninen is also Docent at the University of Oulu.

Ten people applied for the position of the vice rector. Rector Jouko Niinimäki interviewed three candidates.

Arto Maaninen will begin his work as vice rector on December 1. His term ends at the end of 2022.
