"Science with Arctic Attitude" is the University of Oulu slogan. For me, it seems that researchers and students are the stars of the university. All students and staff are working hard creating a better world in the future.
I studied Telecommunication during my bachelor studies in Vietnam. Being a developing country, the field of technology has only been emerging in Vietnam. I asked myself "What can I do to learn and work in the field of new technology in the future?" I came across Oulu somewhat unexpectedly through a conversation with my colleagues. I learned that Oulu is the Silicon Valley of Scandinavia and that it is a modern city where future technology is being created all the time.
The first ever commercial SMS message was sent in Oulu in 1993. That is the reason why I decided to go to Oulu. As the student, I feel honored and fortunate to become a part of the university community.
In the university, I am studying Master's Degree in Wireless Communication Engineering. The course structures are updated every year to adapt to the new upcoming technology, particularly related to 5G and Internet of Things.
During the academic year I enjoy activities where students get to develop their soft skills while studying at the university. During the past year, I have gained experiences in activities such as Vulcanalia festival, Polar Bear Pitching startup event, Festival of Cultures and Cooperation, and so on.

I am glad to answer your questions and sharing my adventure in Oulu!
