Student admissions results published – congratulations to all successful applicants!

All the student admissions results for the University of Oulu have now been published. Around 2100 new students will be starting their studies at the University. Just under 14% of total applicants were admitted.

All applicants have been personally notified about their study place. Decisions to accept or reject must be made by 10 July.

There were more applicants to the University of Oulu during this spring’s application round than ever before – a total of 15,376. This number includes applicants for both bachelor’s programmes and domestic master’s programmes. A total of 5836 applicants had the University of Oulu as their first choice.

The highest ratios of applicants to study places this time were for medicine, speech therapy, special education, dentistry, education and business studies. For these and for many other popular subjects there were over 10 times more applicants than study places available. This year also saw the use of a nationwide admissions process for medicine and dentistry for the first time.

Alongside the increased numbers in several top fields, the number of applicants also grew significantly for information research, health management science as well as literature and Finnish language.

There were a total of 3475 applications for the University of Oulu’s international master’s programmes, which is a new Finnish record. The most popular English-language master’s programmes by applicant numbers were International Business Management, Computer Science and Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Wireless Communications Engineering and Marketing.

Many congratulations to the successful applicants! We look forward to seeing you this autumn at the University of Oulu.
