STEPsCON 2018: Arctic Attitude meets German Pragmatism
International scientific conference on sustainability and innovation
7 December 2018, Leverkusen, Germany
The city of Leverkusen in collaboration with the University of Applied Sciences Cologne and the research institute STEPs will organize a Scientific Conference to celebrate 50 Years of Town Twinning between the city of Leverkusen (Germany) and the city of Oulu (Finland). The University of Oulu is as an important strategic partner for the conducting of this conference.
Aim is to foster the relationship of the two cities on different levels. Primary focus lies on the exchange of scientific knowledge among scientists and students, however, the transfer of knowledge between science and economy is also of special interest for this meeting.
The conference is aimed at scientists and researchers, doctoral candidates and students as well as at specialists in companies.
A separate registration to attend the conference is required.
The scientific programme is jointly organized by University of Oulu and TH Köln – University of Applied Sciences (Germany). The conference is focused on main research topics related to sustainable science in chemistry, biotechnology, process analytics and medicine:
1. Sustainable Medicine and Pharmaceuticals
2. Resources and Bioremediation
3. Sustainable Chemistry & Industrial Biotechnology
4. Innovative Materials & Formulations

A special jubilee to celebrate 50 Years of Town Twinning is organized in the evening of December 6th.
