FBMM has a highly developed infrastructure for the purification of recombinant proteins. The facility hosts several purification systems (Table 1) as well as a dedicated lab for protein purification (F205), which also includes a Nanodrop 1000 spectrophotometer, gel documentation device ChemiDocTM XRS+( Bio-Rad) and other devices related to protein purification. Many devices, especially those locating in the protein purification lab, are also available to non-academic users (Table 1). For the academic users we can provide help for: i) planning your protein purification protocol, ii) running your experiments, and iii) analyzing your results (for a basic price or via collaboration). For regular or large-scale purifications research groups must provide required consumables by themselves. Some consumables, like columns, certain column material and SDS PAGE system, we can only provide for test runs. For the commercial users the devices will be provided using an hour- or daily-based rent depending on the device. Weekly or monthly “package offers” for a set of specific devices including working place in the F205 laboratory are also provided if needed.
Table 1. Protein purification units in FBMM. All systems except Bio-Rad Biologic LP are operated via a computer, and include monitors detecting UV and conductivity values. All systems are also connected to fraction collectors. The devices marked by a star are also available to outside users.
