The second biomaterials and composites seminar between University of Oulu and Lulea University of Technology was held in Hotelli-Ravintola Lasaretti on Friday 18th October. Researchers from both institutes gave presentations on latest research on composite and biomaterial engineering.
Key notes on low-carbon society and bioeconomy, and state-of-the-art in composite research were presented by research group leaders Prof. Jouko Niinimäki (UOulu) and Prof. Kristiina Oksman (LTU).
Other presented topics considered for example the reinforcing efficiency of nanocelluloses in composites, research on nanocellulosic films, extrusion of cellulose nanocomposites, making continuous fibers from nanocellulose, self-assembling of cellulose nanocrystals in films and testing abrasion resistance of polyurethane composites.
